Edward Nice BA(Hons) CFPcm AIFP DipPFS - personal profile

After graduating from university in 1995 I started in the Financial Services industry working at the head office of a large insurance company in the life and pensions department. After a brief stint spent travelling around the world I returned to the UK and worked on a number of short term contracts, and in 1997 I eventually settled at a small firm of financial advisers in the City of London. Joining the company in an administrative capacity, my role developed into a client facing position by mid 1999, giving general advice on protection, investment planning and pensions, with a particular specialisation in at-retirement pension planning.

Since mid 2000 I have worked for three further small to medium sized fee-based financial adviser /planner firms in the City of London gaining experience in a variety of technical and client-facing roles. The majority of my work is centred on providing a bespoke financial planning service to private clients, although I am also involved with setting up and running employee benefits for SMEs, but my particular specialisms are at-retirement planning and strategic investment portfolio design.

I am qualified to Diploma level through the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), using the designatory letters DipPFS from the Personal Finance Society (PFS), and am an Associate of the Institute of Financial Planning and hold the Certified Financial Planner (CFPcm) mark.

I was twice runner up in the Investment Trust Planner category of (Financial Times publication) Money Management magazine's Financial Planner of the Year competition, which is run in conjunction with the IFP. In addition to client orientated work I have had considerable involvement in the development of Canadian financial planning software PlanPlus Planit (formerly Web Advisor) for the UK market.

CII examinations: FP 1, FP2, FP3, G10, J04, J05, J06, AF4 - DipPFS

IFP qualifications: Certified Financial Planner(cm) - AIFP CFPcm

I am married with one daughter and, when not studying for the next professional exam, split my time between friends and family, playing squash and paragliding (in the UK and overseas where possible).
