Uploading Files

From Planipedia

In order to include an image on a Planipage, you must save the image file on your computer, and then use the Upload File feature on Planipedia.

So, once you have saved the image file on your computer, use the "Upload File" link on the left-hand side bar.

Upon entering the screen, click the Browse button. This will open up the files on your computer. Find and highlight the image file which you wish to upload and then choose "Open". This will automatically set the Destination Filename. If you like, you can enter a summary of the contents of the image file, and also watch the file page for any changes that are made to it. Finally, click Upload File.

Once uploaded, you will see the File:FileName page, which displays a summary of the various properties of the image and the file history on Planipedia. Also note that you can upload a new version of the file should it become outdated. Changing the "master file" so to speak, will automatically update the image that appears on any Planipages that use the file. You can also edit this file using an external application, allowing you to make minor changes rather than create a new file altogether. This can be helpful if editing a file that you do not have stored on your own computer drives.

Now that you have uploaded your file, you will want to include it in a Planipage. Go to the edit tab for the page you wish to edit, and choose the spot within the text where you want the image to appear. Then simply type "[[File:File_Name_.xxx]]" as it appeared when you uploaded it.

If you show your preview or save your page, the image should now appear!

Note: You cannot upload other non-image files types, such as word documents, excel spreadsheets, pdfs, etc. If you would like to share other types of documents on Planipedia, you will either have to copy and reformat the content of the document so it becomes a Planipage on its own, or you can upload your file to another space on the internet and create external links within Planipages to this document.
